EXPERIENCE YOUR HIGH ENERGY PLACES

I have no problem with the idea that the Creator is omnipresent throughout creation but I still have reasons to say certain places have more energy and a higher quality of energy than others.

Last Sunday I performed and spoke at St. Marks United Methodist Church. When I put my guitar in the case, I left my guitar cord and tuner in a church pew.

I went back yesterday to pick them up and when I walked into the empty sanctuary I was overcome with a feeling of awe. There was a Presence I could feel all around me and my energy sensors extended throughout the sanctuary and knew the whole room was permeated by this energy I can best describe as a Presence.

The thought imparted to me as I stood there still and silent was, “Think of all the love this room has contained in the loving prayers and songs of all the people who have ever worshipped here.” All that love seemed to flow through me like a warm wave that permeated and healed every cell in my body.

It matters not to me any more what people think of my mystical experiences and accounts. I know my only intention in describing them is to honestly share my life with my dear friends in the hope that we can come to see the commonality of our experiences reveals a reality.

A few years ago I realized that we are energy beings walking around in a universe where all things are fields of energy. Once we see this truth and start daily experiencing everything as interplays of energy, we become much more adept at reading energies and sensing the best way to work with them.

Going to places that hold great power for us is a sure way to energize our personal supply of energy. You can actually feel the warmth of the energy flows. Thoughts emerge that you have never thought, insights play around in your mind like lightning dancing across a dark summer sky and more real power for living is given than you have ever experienced in such a short time span.

When I was an elementary school child I had a large bed of honeysuckles where I would go to “talk to God.” I would quietly slip away from other kids and hide there for an hour or more. God never imparted any new revelations or secrets to me in my honeysuckle thicket but the feeling of a sweet and special Presence there was as real to me as the cornbread my mother baked.

The Reality we experience at these times in our sacred places is so real it remains with us and comes alive within us at the times we need it most. To experience it is to know it forever.

When I was a troubled teenager, an almost-illiterate Baptist preacher lived down the road from me alongside a railroad track. He was exceedingly kind to me and we became permanent friends. The house where he lived is gone but the empty lot is still there. The other day when I crossed the railroad tracks, the thought came, “Why not pull over and spend some time with Brother Hubert?”

I pulled over to the place where he used to park his Olds 88 and for a few minutes he was as real to me as when he rode around in a body of flesh. I could tell he still loved me and would be in my “cloud of witnesses” (Heb. 12:1) the rest of my life. No matter what may be built on that lot where we talked away so many nights, there will always be a power there for me. The power and glory of the Creator manifested as Hubert Burnum will always be mine when I wish to go there and soak it up.
