GOOD MORNING EARTHEN VESSEL

I awoke this morning not feeling so hot and an email from Rev. Rainbow Johnson perked me right up. She reminded me that we don't always have to feel so hot or be so hot for God to use us. We can be of great service just exactly as we are, right where we are.

She reminded me that Noah was a drunk, Jacob was a liar, Leah was ugly, Moses stuttered, Gideon was afraid, Samson was a womanizer and David was a murderer. Even Jesus' best buddy, John the Baptist,  was a weirdo who ate bugs.

I love the verse in Corinthians, "We have this treasure in an earthen vessel." Just an old clay jar. We are fragile and yet powerful because of the love that fills us and we can pour that love out in service to the world.

The best way to be inconsequential is to think you are inconsequential. The only way you can be weak is to think you are weak. The only way we can not matter is to think we don't matter. Don't think about the jar you are. Think about what was poured in you to pour out on this world. Think about the divine quality of your contents.

Don't deny you are just a jar. Glory in it. That's the greatness. All the good in this world was poured out of plain clay jars -- jars just like you and me.

I didn't feel good this morning. All I knew to do was pour these loving thoughts out of my clay jar. Already I feel better. That's the beauty. Every time we pour something out of our jar, the vacuum brings more goodness and glory and love into us.

Enjoy your jar today. Share some of the goodies in it and more goodies will be given to you.
