Welcome to the first edition of Naman’s Men’s Magazine For Ladies.

The purpose of this magazine is to share cooking and housekeeping tips from a man’s point of view for ladies only.

A secondary purpose is to share gossip, random thoughts and other such things from a man’s point of view for ladies only.

Why? Good question. But I’m afraid the answer to that is for me to know and you to find out.

Housekeeping:

I’m not giving this as advice, I’m just saying it is the way I do it. Take doing dishes. My way is to let them pile up until there is nothing left to eat with, drink from or cook with.

I follow this same method when it comes to washing clothes and general housekeeping, including the bathroom and kitchen and all other rooms.

I know I’m done when I can say it’s “Close enough for government work.”

Why do I do my housekeeping this way? I'm more attracted to the great challenges and those big works which only procrastination provides.

I have found myself in moments when I felt a certain enchantment with the mundane and commonplace but they were fleeting moments that never stuck to the sticking place.

Cooking:

My cooking tip for the day is Bumble Bee Prime Fillet Atlantic Salmon that sells for $1.24 for a six oz. can at the Bi-Lo.

This makes several delicious sandwiches with mayo and wheat bread. Always wheat bread, never white bread, for health reasons. This salmon has only 10mg of cholesterol.

In the next publication I will tell my secret about how to fry the perfect egg and maybe reveal a couple more of my secrets about eggs.

Wine and drinks:

You may have heard the news regarding the research that claims that red wine is good for the heart and helps promote a longer life.

Of course I was pleased with this news. I must tell you, however, when I took a closer look at the claims, I discovered that it would probably take a couple of gallons every day to have the effect (Is it effect or affect? Tell me the difference.) that they claim.

But there is reason for cheer. According to the latest research, a little bit of alcohol every day is a very healthy thing to do for your body.

It’s good for the heart and helps promote a longer life. If you believe in Intelligent Design it is like God saying, “To your health.”

If you tend more to think in terms of nature, natural science, evolution and all that, it’s the same thing, “Have a drink and relax”

Personally I recommend a Bloody Mary every morning before breakfast. I have a great recipe but I have not been authorized to reveal it.

Mind you, this is only a recommendation. I go for months without a Bloody Mary and I never allow myself more than a couple of beers at one time (but they are the tall ones) and I try not to do this two days in a row and never more than three or four times a week.

I’m not overly strict on this, just so it’s close enough for government work.

Cigarettes:

I try not to smoke more than two packs of extra lights a day.

Marijuana:

I love marijuana, but it is so expensive and so hard to come by it is almost like Christmas or the 4th of July every time a friend drops by with a little pot for my pipe or a joint.

Why do I love it? Let me count the ways. It's more relaxing and soothing to my spirit than any other of God's plants that I have ever smoked.

It completes me. It allows me to be intrigued with the mundane and commonplace, and yet it allows me to focus in on the most intricate and delicate beauties of life and the imagination that runs through me.

I realize, of course, that it is against the law but it is a law that I do not accept or abide by.

The rule of law has its place but there are some God-given freedoms within the spirit and soul of man that are above and beyond man's laws and his attempts to deny a person his natural liberties and pursuit of happiness.

Someday this particular law and others like it will be abolished and it will be because of the millions like me with the courage to stand against it and not accept it as a just and reasonable law.

Exercise:

I try to take short walks three or four times a week. It’s also good for thinking. Beyond that I restrict my exercise to sleeping and resting.

Politics:

I’m expecting the people to revolt against Bush, the Iraq War and the Republican Majority by giving the Democrats the Majority in the House and Senate on Nov. 7.

Religion:

I have no religion, but I accept the right of people to have religion if they want it.

Books:

I am currently reading “TOM PAINE, A Political Life,” by John Keane, published in 1995.

Cold weather:

I can’t use it.
