The Clinton Regency?

Dame Hillary Rodham’s pretension as the globe’s leading feminist has been the underlying foundation of her campaign for the Democrat nomination for President. Her decades’ long manipulative ascent is cresting, despite an occasional Bubba-bobble by her long-estranged husband. Yet, now within view of the pinnacle, she has stumbled, and fallen into the use of defensive clichés she once scorned, such as asking, rhetorically, ‘why are you guys ganging up on this girl?’ and seeking sympathy in the folds of the skirt. On the eve of the Hawkeye Caucae, the Girl Hillary has been forced to call on hubby Bill, despite his incessant, ego-centric, and off-putting behavior.

The nouveau riche Princess of the Hamptons has failed in several attempts to find a message that resonated well with the hardcore leftists now controlling the Democrat primary process, which might be articulated without damaging her prospects for success in the general election. Reluctantly, in desperation, she has relented and allowed Bill to implement a thematic change. Thought subtle and unspoken, this carefully crafted, powerful new appeal, simply translated, is a promise to establish Regency under the former President, who will serve as Lord Protector (a/k/a Secretary of State) during the first term of President Rodham. The L.P. will have full control and final authority over all foreign affairs, able to travel the world in the best of style, and continue to live-out his favorite song by Ricky Nelson, Travelin’ Man.

Mrs. Rodham Clinton, as President, will preside over domestic matters throughout the Protectorate, which will continue until such time as Lord Protector Clinton is confirmed as a Justice of the United States Supreme Court, (which disbarred him in 2001). Skittish voters, wary of Dame Rodham’s ability to maintain national security, will be reassured by this arrangement. It will be the first Regency in the United States, though there is a rich history in our British lineage, both in England and Scotland, of Lord Protectors, some noble and some knave.

This will continue the Bush-Clinton dynastic era, a sign that much of the nation is still not ready to forget the 60’s or release its memory. Maybe by 2016, when the Rodham second term draws to a close, and surviving Boomers begin to enter their 70’s, this overdue passage may transpire. But the Dynasty will go on. Jeb will be next in line, though then 63. After his twin terms, the nation will be ready for a younger face, and Chelsea will emerge. She’ll then be 44, and be sworn-into office by her 78 years old father, Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.
